About the Information Center

The co-founders, left Danna Spayde and right, Dot Thibodeaux

The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Information Center of Louisiana is an organization dedicated to offering both information and support to kinship caregivers and their families.

When you find yourself in a circumstance that requires kinship care, our information center can help. We have acquired audio tapes, video tapes, books, and referral sources that you may find valuable. Also, we provided access to expert advice on legal matters such as custody laws, the establishment of legal guardianship, and adoption.

Our organization values guidance and support. In monthly discussion sessions, grandparents and caregivers alike can share their experiences. There is also opportunity to obtain guidance from others who have found themselves in similar situations.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is a non–profit organization committed to serving you. If you would like any more information, please contact us.

Starting a Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group

Dot Thibodeaux, founder of "Second Time Around" and Danna Spayde established this support group in 1993. These suggestions for starting a Grandparents or Other Caregiver Support Group in you area are a result of Danna and Dot's experiences. We hope this information will be useful to other groups.
